Task 2 : Coffee Cup Design

Visual Goal :

  • Minimalist Aesthetic:
Creating a sleek and simple design that appealing to wide audience.

  • Reuseable Material:
Another thing that we are looking for is the customer experience whilst drinking the coffee, with nonstick interior preventing the coffee to spill from the side and leaving stains.

  • Natural and Organic looking:
Highly eco-friendly materials and communicate sustainability visually.


Material :

- Recycled paper:
  • Usability: Recycled paper needs a polyethylene lining to make them water.
  • Durability and aesthetic: Improved recycling processes have led to higher-quality recycled paper.
  • Waste reduction: Using recycled paper helps divert paper waste from landfills.
- PLA Bioplastic
  • Renewable resources: PLA is derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugarcane, rather than petroleum.
  • Usability: PLA-based coffee cups are often lined with PLA for water resistance.

Rationales: 

This single design has 3 chosen patterns, 2 of which are based on Taylor’s primary red and black colors, and 1 of which is based on a color palette of tan and green, which is supposed to support one of the visual goals of effectively communicate the environmental sustainability visually, with green represents nature, and tan represents the color of coffee.

The highlight of the cup is the diagonal stroke that surrounds the cup, aligning the text “Taylor’s University”. This single stroke was not only meant to be sleek and elegant due to its minimalist approach, but the stroke was created to have a much more energetic movement that meant to captivate the audience with their excitement and enthusiasm towards Taylor’s.

  • We start to do the sketches and thinking about the concept

Reflection :

Throughout the task there is pro and cons between us as a team member but in the end, we combine our creative thinking, strategic planning and marketing principles. In this assignment i realize on how that communicating is the main key in a group project beside doing each other job. But since this group project end i sense a better version of me emerging that wants to get better in this module.
